Satchel and Michael have been watching a too much Game of Thrones…
Melbourne sells out in 23 minutes

According to Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah, Panther’s show at The Palace in Melbourne, Australia sold-out within 23 minutes of going on sale:
Holy nipple clamps Batman! @Steel_Panther just sold out their Melbourne show in 23 minutes!
— AJ (@iamnotshouting) May 16, 2012
Granted, the show was bound to sell out within the day, I know how loyal and hard core Aussie Fanthers are, but you gotta wonder how big of a role scum bag scalpers played in the 23 minute sell out. Within minutes of going on sale, tickets immediately hit eBay ranging from $100-$300 dollars. DO NOT BID ON THOSE TICKETS!
Luckily for the Aussie fan base, Maddah has taken notice of the demand and scalping issues and is working on either getting the venue upgraded or adding a second show. Nothing as been confirmed, but this tweet from Maddah is encouraging:
Guys, there are going to be more @Steel_Panther Melbourne tickets. Either via a 2nd show or a move up in venue. Please RT to stop scalpers!
— AJ (@iamnotshouting) May 18, 2012
As frustrating and wrong as scalpers can be, at least Maddah is trying to address the problem rather than turning his head and ignoring it (easy to do). Hopefully we receive some good news soon.
Sydney and Melbourne have sold out. If you plan on catching Panther in Brisbane, Adelaide or Perth, then I highly suggest getting tickets NOW!
Fan footage: Rams Head Live, encore “Sweet Child O’ Mine” w/James Durbin
UPDATE: The entire set including the performance with James Durbin can be seen below:
whistlepig75 has uploaded the majority of Steel Panther’s set at Rams Head Live in Baltimore, MD on 5/17 to YouTube (missing Weenie Ride, Party All Day, It Won’t Suck Itself, Death to All But Metal and 17 Girls in a Row).
Still waiting on footage of Panther’s encore performance of Guns N Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine” with James Durbin to surface. Check out this excerpt from the Baltimore Sun:
For the encore, Durbin joined the band for the lone cover of the evening, a spot-on rendition of “Sweet Child of Mine” during which the 23 year-old reality contestant’s vocals noticeably outshined those of Michael Star. Panther and Durbin’s impassioned take on the Guns ‘n’ Roses standard easily bested the half-hearted rendition Mile Kennedy performed with Slash two weeks earlier earlier.

Opening acts to look out for
If you’re planning on rocking out at a Steel Panther show anytime soon, there’s a pretty solid chance you’re looking forward to the support as well.
The Treatment have just announced that they will be supporting Steel Panther for the upcoming German tour in Bremen, Stuttgart and Leipzig. This announcement from the young outfit out of Cambridge, UK comes after successfully supporting Panther during the recent Balls Out European tour.
The Treatment have also been confirmed as support for “The Tour” with Motley Crue and Def Leppard.
The Treatment’s re-released debut record This Might Hurt is now available.
Cherri Bomb, another young (very young) band, are starting to turn heads. This all-girl rock band became “band buds” with Panther earlier this year during the Soundwave Festival in Australia. There’s even been talk about a Cherri Bomb/Steel Panther collaboration.
Cherri Bomb’s debut record This is the End of Control releases on May 15th and to celebrate the release, they’ll be opening up for Panther at Irving Plaza in New York on May 16th.
James Durbin performed music off his debut record Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster on American Idol recently and confirmed to millions that he will be opening up for Steel Panther at Rams Head Live in Baltimore, MD on May 17th.
The American Idol star’s first encounter with Panther was last year at the House of Blues Sunset when he performed Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing”.
It’s possible some Panther fans won’t favor Durbin’s mainstream/pop sound, but it would be foolish to over look the massive following American Idol has given him – Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster did crack the US Top 40. Plus, it’s obvious he’s a fan and supports Steel Panther – that makes him OK in my book.
What opening acts are you looking forward to seeing?

Fred Durst & Jeff Ross rock w/Panther at HOB Sunset
Limp Bizket’s Fred Durst and Comedian Jeff Ross joined Steel Panther on stage at the HOB Sunset in Hollywood last night.
About half way into Van Halen’s ”You Really Got Me,” Durst stage dived and continue performing from the crowd:
The stage dive from Durst shocked the hell out of me and I’m sure it surprised Panther as well. Hate Durst all you want, but you can’t tell me that stage dive wasn’t awesome.
Footage of Ross performing KISS’ “Rock and Roll All Nite” with Panther has yet to surface.
Footage of Panther’s entire set at The Oakdale
Fan footage of Steel Panther’s entire set at the The Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, CT on April 19th has hit YouTube!
Props to Buckethead357 for recording the entire show and thanks to Michael Star for tweeting the vid! (It might just be on my end, but the sounds cuts off towards the end)
Now enjoy one hour and thirty four minutes of pure Panther awesomeness:
